Here are some pictures from Monday and Tuesday’s practice rounds at Oakmont Country Club. As you can glean from some of the pictures, the course is in excellent condition. The rough is very deep and dense, and will penalize players should they miss the fairway off the tee. Although the course is long (7250 yards), I expect to see many players choose iron off the tee to keep the ball in play, especially on some of the downhill par 4’s. The greens are immaculate and very quick with many having pretty severe undulations. Should players miss their target on approach shots, three-putts could definitely be possible. But for now enjoy some sights of one of the most beautiful golf courses in America and this year’s US Open host, Oakmont Country Club.
